NOVA Word Processor, Version 1.0
For further information
-----------------------
This file contains information for NOVA Version 1.0, which
is not detailed in the User's Manual. The User's Manual is
contained in the NOVA.DOC file which you may print out. If
you encounter any problems installing NOVA, please read
through this information. If further installation help is
necessary, feel free to write to us at:
Nova-1 Software Co.
PO Box 7341
Bonney Lake, WA 98390
See the ORDERFRM.DOC file for ordering your registered copy
of NOVA.
Installing NOVA
---------------
The installation of NOVA is as simple as unzipping all the
files into the directory of the disk intended for NOVA. If
you are installing to a 360k floppy disk, unzip the
documentation file contained in NOVADOC.ZIP to a seperate
disk. The documentation file is not needed to run NOVA.
Setting screen size and monochrome mode
---------------------------------------
Some video adaptors do not report screen size properly via
their BIOS. If the screen appears to be drawn improperly
(the status line is not visible at the bottom of the screen,
or dialog boxes are not centered on the screen), add the
following line to your AUTOEXEC.BAT file:
SET NOVASCREEN=80,25
You can enter a different value for the number of columns
or rows if your screen size is not the standard 80 columns
by 25 rows.
If you are using a monochrome display with a color adaptor,
NOVA's screen colors may not be right for you. You can
add the following line to your AUTOEXEC.BAT file:
SET NOVAMONO=TRUE
This will force NOVA into monochrome mode regardless of
your video adaptor.
Printer Drivers
---------------
To reduce the size of the shareware distribution files, NOVA
comes with several pre-installed printer drivers that should
meet the needs of virtually all users. If the printer you
have can not use one of the pre-installed printers you can
delete the NOVA.PDB file and the program will use a default
printer driver that will print on any printer but with
reduced capabilities.
The registered version of NOVA comes with printer drivers
for over 500 printers as well as an install program that
allows specifying the printer port and font cartridges.
Printers supported by the registered version are listed in
the PRNLIST.ZIP file.
